Israel and Iran have agreed to a tenuous truce

Israel and Iran established a fragile ceasefire on Tuesday morning, marking an uncertain conclusion to 12 days of conflict. The ceasefire seemed to be in jeopardy almost immediately as both parties exchanged allegations of attacks shortly after recognizing its initiation. President Donald Trump, who declared the ceasefire on Monday night, informed reporters that both Israel and Iran had breached the agreement—stating he was uncertain whether the violations were intentional—and cautioned Israel specifically to refrain from striking Iran. “BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!” he emphasized in a social media update. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz accused Iran of launching a barrage of missiles toward Israel and stated he had ordered the military to “respond forcefully to Iran’s breach of the ceasefire.” A message shared on the Telegram channel of Iran’s state broadcaster refuted the missile launch allegation. Iran then charged Israel with conducting three waves of attacks shortly after Trump announced that the ceasefire had begun. Israel has not yet provided a public response to these accusations.
